This is aged Purpleheart, and shows it by being more of a mulberry color than a real purple. Still it’s lovely wood, with a satiny grain and a dense, inflexible quality that makes for a lot of fun in the boudoir.
They are about 18 inches long, a scant 1 inch wide at the blade.
My “Whappers” are an amusing, surprising shape, kind of a double-but-opposing wedge. This gives them a nice balance in the hand and a delightful warm sting. They are narrower than a paddle, wider than a cane, with a nice weight and more gravitas than a paint stirrer.
